Functions of Aluminum-Plastic Hook for Detachable Zinc Oxide Arrester

The aluminum-plastic hook matched with detachable zinc oxide lightning arresters is a key component for mechanical fixation, electrical connection, and safety disconnection. Its main functions are as follows:
  1. Quick detachable installation and live-line operation
    The hook forms a pluggable and reversible mechanical connection with the bracket or insulator. Operators can install, remove, overhaul, and replace the arrester with an insulating operating rod without power outage, ensuring continuous power supply.
  2. Mechanical support and positioning
    The aluminum part provides sufficient strength to bear the arrester’s weight, wind load, vibration, and short-circuit electromotive force. The assembly accurately positions the arrester to ensure reliable contact between high-voltage terminals and the line.
  3. Automatic disconnection in case of failure
    When the arrester breaks down (puncture, aging, overheating), the thermal disconnector actuates to unlock the hook, making the faulty arrester drop automatically. This isolates the fault and prevents accidents such as line burnout. The dropped state is visible for quick fault location.
  4. Electrical connection and current conduction
    It ensures reliable electrical connection between the arrester’s grounding terminal and the grounding circuit, allowing lightning current and fault current to discharge safely to the ground.
  5. Insulation protection and corrosion resistance
    The plastic part provides electrical insulation, prevents phase-to-phase or ground short circuits, reduces weight, and improves anti-corrosion and anti-pollution performance. The aluminum structure conducts electricity and dissipates heat effectively.
