Product Introduction: PP Flame-Retardant Material for Drop-out Fuse Arc Chutes

1. Basic Product Information

  • Product Name: Modified Polypropylene (PP) Flame-Retardant Composite Material

  • Application: Arc chute/auxiliary arc-extinguishing chamber for outdoor high-voltage drop-out fuses

2. Core Performance & Functions

  • High-Efficiency Flame Retardancy: Self-extinguishes upon removal from flame, inhibits arc ignition and spread, prevents combustion or deformation of the arc chute/fuse tube, ensuring safe circuit interruption.

  • Auxiliary Arc Extinction: Generates gas under arc energy to boost chamber pressure, accelerates arc cooling and quenching, shortens arcing time effectively.

  • Electrical Insulation: High volume resistivity blocks phase-to-phase/phase-to-ground creepage, enhancing insulation reliability under high voltage.

  • Weather & Temperature Resistance: Withstands long-term operation at -40°C to 120°C; UV-resistant and anti-aging, suitable for outdoor exposure to sunlight, rain, snow, and extreme temperatures.

3. Processing & Molding Guidelines

  • Raw Material Pre-treatment: Dry at 80–90°C for 2–4 hours to remove moisture and prevent bubbles/silver streaks in molded parts.

  • Processing Temperature: Barrel temperature: 170–190°C; Mold temperature: 40–60°C (to avoid flame retardant decomposition and yellowing).

  • Molding Process: Injection molding/compression molding recommended; ensure sufficient holding pressure and uniform cooling to guarantee dimensional accuracy and structural strength.

  • Material Compatibility: Do not mix with calcium carbonate or ordinary masterbatch; 15–20% talc/barium sulfate can be added for reinforcement, with flame retardant content adjusted to 4% accordingly.


4. Installation & Usage Specifications

  • Assembly: Fit tightly with the fuse tube/arc chamber without gaps to ensure full arc entry into the chute.

  • Mounting Angle: Install at 15°–30° inclination (matching the fuse) to facilitate gas exhaust and drop of the fuse carrier.

  • Environmental Adaptation: No extra protection required for outdoor use; salt-spray resistant grade is recommended for coastal/heavy-pollution areas.

  • Modification Prohibition: Do not cut, drill, or thermally deform the arc chute, as this will damage structural integrity and flame-retardant performance.


5. Maintenance & Replacement Criteria

  • Routine Inspection: Check for cracks, deformation, discoloration, carbonization, or arc erosion marks on the surface.

  • Replacement Trigger: Replace immediately if cracking, burn-through, flame retardant failure (persistent open flame), or insulation damage occurs.

  • Service Life: Recommended replacement every 3–5 years under normal outdoor conditions; shorten to 2–3 years in harsh environments (high humidity, heavy pollution, lightning-prone areas).


6. Safety Notes

  • Designed exclusively for drop-out fuse arc chutes; not a substitute for core components such as fuse tubes or insulators.

  • Installation/replacement must be performed by certified electricians under power-off conditions, in compliance with high-voltage safety operation regulations.

  • Dispose of waste materials in accordance with plastic recycling regulations; do not incinerate randomly.
